123 HP Envy 5660 Setup

Step 1: Check the network and printer connection status

First and foremost, please ensure your network is working correctly and that the printer is ready for the network setup.

  1. If you are using a wireless router, verify with the router ‘s documentation or the support site to ensure it meets the following requirements:
  • Check the router band: Not all HP printers support all frequency bands, make sure that the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. Also in case the router broadcasts separate network names(SSIDs) for each band, please connect the printer to the 2.4GHz band SSID.
  • Bonjour support: HP recommends routers that support Apple’s own network discovery software, Bonjour. Connecting via Bonjour ensures quick printer discovery as well as support wireless printing.
  1. Ensure that the printer is ready for the network setup
  • Wireless network connection: On the printer template, open the Wireless network or Settings menu and make sure the wireless signal has been turned on and is enabled. The wireless icon light has to be either on and steady or blinking.
  • Wired network connection: Ensure that the cable is connected properly to the printer Ethernet portand to the available port provided on the router. When properly connected, the green link light would be steady and the orange activity light would continue blinking.
  1. Click the network icon provided in the menu bar of the Mac, to view the network name and status of the connection.
  • If the selected network is not yours (for instance, if you are currently connected to a neighbor’s or a guest network), you must disconnect and then reconnect to your own network to complete the printer setup.
  • If the network signal strength is weak, move the computer and printer closer to the router, also position the devices away from large metal objects such as bookcases. Ensure the printer is kept away from devices that emit radio signals such as microwaves and cordless phones.
  • If the network status is not connected, confirm that your network is working correctly and then check the status again. Make sure a check mark displays next to the network name.
  1. Ensure that one’s system has been disconnected from any Virtual Private Networks (VPN) before installing the printer software.
  2. Try reinstalling the HP software.
  • If the install completes, the issue is resolved.

If the install fails, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Manually connect the printer to your network

By connecting the printer to your network manually, the HP Easy Start installer would be able to find your printer. For general guidelines on connecting the printer to the computer or to your network, click on the appropriate connection type.

Wireless (Wi-Fi) connection to your network

Using the HP Easy Start Installer, your computer can identify your HP wireless printer that’s connected to the same network.

You can setup your wireless printer using the Wireless Setup Wizard on the touch or text navigation control panel on the printer display screen. If your printer does not have a basic control panel, then you can use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button to connect your WPS supported printer & router.

Setup Using the 123 HP Envy 5660 Wireless Setup Wizard

The Wireless Setup Wizard is available on any HP printer that has a touch or text navigation control panel. You can access the wizard by pressing the Wireless icon or button in the Setup, Network, or Wireless Menu. Follow the step by step instructions to select the network you want to connect your printer to along with your network password.

  1. You will need to collect the following details:
  • Name of the network (SSID)
  • Security Password of the Network (WEP key or WPA passphrase)
  • Wi-Fi connected computer
  • Wi-Fi enabled printer(During initial setup, place the printer close to the computer)
  1. Ensure that the printer, the computer, and the router are all connected directly to the same network.
  2. Detach any Ethernet or USB cable that may be connected to your HP printer.
  3. Touch or scroll to the Setup, Network or Wireless menu using the control panel.
  4. Using the touch screen or scroll options navigate to the Wireless Setup Wizard and then follow the on-screen guided steps to connect your printer to the network.
  • If the printer connects to the network, reinstall the HP software.
  • If the printer does not connect to the network, then move forward to the next step.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

If your printer’s control panel (no touch screen or text navigation) doesn’t seem to work, or the Wireless Setup Wizard method does not work, then you can connect your printer to your network using this method. You will require both your printer & your router to be WPS push button connection type supported devices. Check your router & printer manual to see if they support WPS.

  2. Printer is to be switched off.
